For people lodging their own return
Australian tax season, explained.
InkCairn helps you decide what to do on your own tax return: which rates apply to your income, which deductions are yours to claim, and how and when to lodge. Guides are grouped as Rates, Deductions and Lodging. Each starts from the decision you face and shows the ATO source the answer rests on.
What the guides cover
- Rates. How tax brackets and offsets apply to your income, so you know what your result depends on.
- Deductions. Which work-related costs you can claim, and which you should leave out.
- Lodging. How and when to lodge, and what to do if you are running late.
Guides are in preparation
No guide is published yet. Each one will be compared, sentence by sentence, with its sources before it goes live, and this page will not list a guide until it exists. Until then, InkCairn has nothing to tell you about your return. Go to the ATO directly, and ask a tax professional about anything specific to your situation.
