About InkCairn
InkCairn is an independent site for Australians preparing their own tax return. It helps with one decision at a time, such as which rates apply, which deductions to claim, or how and when to lodge, and it shows where each answer came from.
Who writes this
jooheesoo writes every guide on InkCairn, and each guide's byline names them. The byline says who wrote a guide. It is not a professional credential, and this page says nothing more about the writer.
How a guide is made
A guide starts with a decision a taxpayer has to make, not with a topic to fill. The answer is built from the ATO's own published material first. Another publisher may help explain something, but it never supplies a figure, rate, threshold or date on its own. Every guide lists its sources in plain view so you can open them yourself.
Before a guide goes live, each factual sentence is compared with the source it came from. Where two sources disagree, the guide names the disagreement and gives the safer reading. Where neither reading is safe, it leaves the figure out and says so.
Three kinds of claim
Not every sentence in a guide has the same footing. Each falls into one of three classes, and a guide does not blur them.
- Source-checked. A primary source states it. The guide cites that source, so you can read the original wording.
- Field-checked. The author carried out the step and recorded the date. The guide then reports what was done and when. If a guide does not say it did something, it did not.
- Author knowledge. No source states it, but the author, jooheesoo, holds it as their own knowledge. The guide labels it as the author's own and never attributes it to the ATO or any other body. Treat it as informed opinion and check it before you rely on it.

What this site is not
Nothing here is tax, legal or financial advice. Guides are general information and do not take account of your circumstances. InkCairn makes no claim to be a tax agent or an accountant. For advice on your own situation, ask a tax professional or the ATO.
InkCairn is independent. It has no connection to the ATO or to any other government body, and nothing on this site is an ATO statement. A link to an ATO page is a citation, not an endorsement.
